South University Announces New Specialization in the Online Master's Program for Criminal Justice

SAVANNAH, Ga. – August 24, 2009 – Today, South University announced the introduction of a new specialization in the online master's degree program for professionals seeking to either further their careers or enter the field of Criminal Justice. The new specialization in Public Administration allows students enrolled in The Master of Criminal Justice online degree program to focus on such vital areas as policy analysis, leadership in public sector organizations, budgeting and intergovernmental relations.

The new Public Administration specialization joins the existing specializations of Homeland Security, Corrections and Cyber Crime in meeting the needs of existing Criminal Justice professionals as well as those seeking to enter the field. Graduates of South University's Master of Science in Criminal Justice online degree program will meet a demonstrated need. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, "Overall opportunities in local police departments will be excellent for individuals who meet the psychological, personal, and physical qualifications." "There will be more competition for jobs in Federal and State law enforcement agencies than for jobs in local agencies. Employment of police and detectives is expected to grow 11 percent over the 2006-16 decade, about as fast as the average for all occupations." "Applicants with a bachelor's degree and several years of law enforcement or military experience, especially investigative experience, will have the best opportunities in Federal agencies."
