South University Launches Bachelor of Science
in Health Sciences Program Online

SAVANNAH, Ga. – July 30, 2007 – South University is launching a Bachelor of Science in Health Science program online with classes beginning August 6, 2007. The new program is the latest program to be launched online providing students with the opportunity to pursue a South University degree from virtually any location in the world.

“As the demand for students in the field of health sciences continues to grow, this new program is designed to provide graduates with a solid foundation preparing them to pursue a career in a variety of fields,” says A. William Paulsen, Dean of the School of Health Professions.

The University first introduced this program at its campuses in West Palm Beach, Fla. and Tampa, Fla. The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences curriculum is designed to prepare students with a firm foundation for entry-level employment in a range of positions in the health care industry at facilities such as health practitioners’ offices, hospitals, home health care services, outpatient care services, nursing care facilities, health insurance companies, and state and government healthcare programs.

The first two years of the core curriculum is designed to provide students with a foundation in the humanities, math and science. In addition, it provides students with the necessary pre-requisites to apply for South University’s competitive Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program. During the second two years, the focus moves to business basics, the healthcare delivery system, the medical office or public health.

Through South University’s online programs, students benefit from accelerated five and one half week courses. This accelerated format provides students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree online in as little as two years and 10 months. Degree completion time may be shorter if you have previous transferable college credit.
