South University Launches Master of Business Administration Program

Online Program Combines Finance and Management Skills to Develop Industry Leaders

SAVANNAH, Ga. – South University (http://online.southuniversity.edu) is launching an online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program with courses beginning on April 3. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a 48-credit, 12-course program designed to train students for a leadership role in financial services and related sectors.

Unlike many traditional MBA programs that view organizations as a collection of marketing, operations and finance silos, South University integrates each functional area to mirror the approach taken by today's most successful organizations. The foundation provides a firm grounding in economics, decision-making, behavioral sciences and strategic environment. The core presents a cross-functional approach to the long run and short run decisions that must be made to deliver goods and services to constituents. Students may choose a specialization or mix courses for a general MBA.

The U.S. Department of Labor's 2006 – 2007 Occupational Outlook Handbook forecasts a growing need for qualified financial managers as a result of: "regulatory reforms and the expansion of the economy" <http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos010.htm>. The Handbook also states that marketing jobs are expected to increase: "faster than the average for all occupations through 2014" <http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos020.htm>.

"The MBA program is designed to provide professionals with advanced educational opportunities regardless of geographic, lifestyle or physical constraints," said South University Chancellor John T. "The new program compliments existing business programs at South University and addresses the need for current students to understand how successful companies operate while offering integrated instruction in the fields of business analysis, management, finance and marketing."

The MBA program is designed for maximum convenience and flexibility to provide students with multiple options to meet their respective scheduling needs. Courses are taught in accelerated (5.5 week) sessions with eight start dates per year.

The Master of Business Administration program joins the University's current online degree programs: Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration, Master of Science in Criminal Justice, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN).
